Bournemouth Hospital Charity was established to enhance the care and treatment of patients accessing NHS services at the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals above and beyond what can be funded by the NHS alone. The charity’s funds directly benefit patients and staff. The additional equipment and training the charity funds enables the Trust to provide quicker diagnosis and treatment helping people to return to their everyday way of life sooner, in more comfortable and pleasant surroundings.
We, alongside all our fantastic guests, will be providing the Bournemouth Hospital Charity with a grant for £2,651 to provide new toys and games in their children’s section of the emergency department waiting room and treatment area. A visit to hospital or medical clinic can be frightening, traumatic and a challenge. This is not only true of a patient but any accompanying siblings or friends. When a child visits hospital their usual routines are disrupted and they may be separated from their family and other familiar people for periods of time. Being able to play whilst in hospital means children can continue with an aspect of their normal life, reduce stress and also provide some much needed fun. Distraction through play provides a strong role in comforting patients.
By opting to add £1 to your room rate upon check out can really make a difference to a child’s life.
