Throughout 2014, FJB Hotels raised a total of £21,000 for Wave 105’s Cash for Kids by holding a series of events and encouraging guests to donate an optional £1.00 which was added to their hotel bills. When allocating the grant, to be used entirely in support of local charities, the FJB team chose to donate £5,000 towards the BCHA Women’s Refuge in Poole, who was raising funds for the provision of an outside play area.
Andrew Woodland, general manager of Sandbanks Hotel, said: “The BCHA Women’s Refuge in Poole didn’t have an outside area so this will be a huge benefit to everyone who now stays at the refuge. We were lucky enough to have seen the garden before the works began and the whole team has found the transformation to be fantastic.”
Wave 105’s charity manager, Gloria Hill, commented: “The new playground will provide a greatly needed new space to allow the children to just be children during their stay at the refuge. It will also provide the mothers with the opportunity to mix with other families who have been through similar situations as themselves.”
Andrew Woodland added: “We are thrilled to see the difference our fundraising has made for these mothers and their families and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our extremely generous hotel guests and visitors.”
